Kristen Stewart, here we are again. This film briefly appeared in the movie theaters and this week became available on Amazon.
For me anyway, Kristen Stewart has been a bust this last year. Charlie’s Angels ⭐️½ (2019)? Terrible. Underwater⭐️(2020)? Abysmal.
Just how much can be blamed on bad scripts, bad source material is open to debate. She’s working from great source material here, or at least so it seems from the movie info and trailer, so I’m rooting for her not to whiff on a third film.
Seberg is inspired by true events about the French New Wave darling and Breathless star, Jean Seberg (Kristen Stewart), who in the late 1960s was targeted by the FBI because of her support of the civil rights movement and romantic involvement with Hakim Jamal (Anthony Mackie), among others. In Benedict Andrews’ noir-ish thriller, Seberg’s life and career are destroyed by Hoover’s overreaching surveillance and harassment in an effort to suppress and discredit Seberg’s activism.
Seberg (2020) – Rotten Tomatoes
The trailer.
I’m digging the trailer. I don’t know anything about the real person this story is based on, but this is on my radar to watch. The Rotten Tomatoes scores are on the low side – 39% critics, 59% audience, as of this writing. That’s a little disconcerting. As usual, I’m trying to avoid reviews before watching and drawing my own opinion.
If you haven’t seen Seberg, what do you think of the story and trailer? If you have see it, what’s your brief mini non-spoiler review for the rest of us who haven’t yet? Let’s chat about it in the comments below.
Seberg is streaming on Amazon Prime Video as of May 13, 2020.
I’ve only seen the real Jean Seberg in one movie, and that was Ross Hunter’s 1970 film adaptation of Arthur Hailey’s Airport. Sad that she had such a tragic end.

Airport, good movie! Started the whole 70s disaster film genre. Didn’t realize Seberg was in there.

Yes. She plays Tanya Livingston, the airline’s chief customer service agent and Burt Lancaster’s love interest.
Airport was good, all right. I watched it every time it was on TV back in the day. The others…not so much, though I did see Airport ’77 in theaters.

I’m thinking about the other disaster flicks like The Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure and so on. There were a half-dozen or so in that time, some by Hailey, some by others.

Yep. There were definitely tons of disaster films in those days. Some were actually good. Others…well….
I have a soft spot for The Poseidon Adventure. That one was really cool.
