More good deeds by stars stories, and less unrealistic “Imagine” covers, please.
Am starting to see more positive news, talk of “flattening the curve” (COVID-19 cases leveling off or receding in some areas of America), as well as states considering plans of how they will reopen businesses and get people back to work. Stimulus checks are showing up in bank accounts. Getting a feeling that good news is at least beginning to spread.
On that front, today I’m going to try and highlight some positive stories and news, especially if they involve actors, movie/TV-related businesses, etc.
Last month Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds made a seven figure food bank donation.
“Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families. Blake and I are donating $1 million to be split between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada,” the Canadian-born actor shared in a statement on Instagram. “If you can give, these orgs need our help. Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who’s isolated and might need connection.”Blake Lively Trolls Ryan Reynolds by Swiping Right on His Trainer | E! News
Speaking of Feeding America, a group of stars and celebs played poker for the same charity including: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Tom Brady and Tobey Maguire.
The article quoted above goes into the sweet social media interplay between the couple, particularly on Instagram. I have spent a very tiny amount of time and energy on Instagram, so don’t know much about the site beyond that a lot of people, especially celebrities, enjoy hanging out there, sharing pictures and short videos and playing the social media celebrity follow game.
We have a local food bank just down the street from our house that is doing all kinds of great things right now. Always makes me smile when I’m coming home from work and seeing the cars lined up and people out there handing out food packages.
Kara and I used to be Eagles members and we spent a ton of time volunteering and helping to raise money for charities. They are shut down right now, too, as I understand some of the members have COVID-19.
Have you seen other Hollywood actors and actresses donating to good causes? How about movie/TV-related businesses doing something positive and good during these very hard times? Please share whatever you come across in the comments below. Let’s keep the GOOD NEWS spreading!
