The Ugly Truth ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Katherine Heigl is an enigmatic offscreen talent. Some might dispute her talent onscreen, but I think she’s been plagued by taking on more bad than good film projects. She has fared better in TV overall but she has this aura which suggests she’s just one film away from super, super stardom.
Or maybe that time has passed? Am curious what others think.
She’s also produced, even executive produced, some substandard films which have scuffed up her reputation.
It’s like she has never risen to her talent on screen because of various things she’s said or done offscreen. It’s weird and a bit unfortunate. Some actors and actresses should just learn to say “no comment” when the media comes knocking. She seems to be one of them.
I mean, what is the deal with dissing Grey’s Anatomy? Her character Izzie Stevens was deep, complex and had some wonderful character arcs. Throwing Shonda Rhimes and company under the bus, if that’s what she did (I get lost in the details of some of these dustups) doesn’t seem like a wise career choice.
After leaving Grey’s Anatomy, Heigl didn’t work in television for another three years. But just as she overcame the Knocked Up movie drama, Heigl managed to re-build her TV career through starring roles in NBC’s State of Affairs, CBS’ Doubt, and USA’s Suits. She still starred in movies and TV throughout the 2010s, but they weren’t as notable as her roles in the 2000s. With Firefire Lane, a Netflix adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s 2008 novel, Katherine Heigl could potentially solidify herself once again as a major TV star in 2020 and beyond. What Happened To Katherine Heigl | Screen Rant
On screen, I’ll admit enjoying many of her performances, whether it be opposite Seth Rogen in Knocked Up or Josh Duhamel In Life As We Know It. To date, I’ve only written reviews for one of her movies (pictured above).
Haven’t cared as much for her weirder, edgier thriller movies. She is an entertaining actress with a great talent for sardonic wit, both with dialogue and her facial expressions. For those reading that hate her, sorry, I’m a fan.
Now, has she been in any movie that has just been over the top amazing for me? I can’t think of one. I don’t know anything about Firefly Lane TV series on Netflix. I just had to Google it for this post. Based on a novel, and doesn’t seem like the type of series that will interest me in any way whatsoever, but sometimes these are the ones that surprise and entertain me, so I’m keeping an open mind.
What are your thoughts on Katherine Heigl? Do you like her acting? Has she been in a film you’ve thought that was amazing? Or do you think she’s been most successful in various TV roles and hasn’t had that major breakout hit … yet?
