Jason Blum is talking up Halloween Kills, the second in the planned trilogy of new Halloween movies. The danger of any second act in a trilogy is having the ending feel like it’s incomplete or a cliffhanger that makes moviegoers feel like the movie is incomplete.
Blum is convinced that’s not the case, saying he saw it and it has a satisfying ending. He then adds a mini review of the overall movie (emphasis mine):
“After we saw the first movie we started talking about making it a trilogy,” Blum said. “We started talking to David about ‘What if we continue this?’ And it was his idea of like, ‘I know what I would do. I would do two and three. I know what the stories are.’ And we started talking about it even before the movie came out. And then we were lucky enough to get to do it. So we finished the second one and we’re about to start the third one. I just saw the second one. It’s pretty good.”
Halloween Kills Won’t Have Lord of the Rings Problem Says Blum
Kind of chuckled at his mini self-review. Were we expecting him to say, “It kills!” or “It’s freaking phenomenal!”? Um, yeah. “It’s pretty good” is like it’s a B-. It’s better than average.
Are you looking forward to part 2 and 3 of the new Halloween trilogy?
*IT’S PRETTY GOOD*
Answering that last question, no, I have little interest in seeing the next Halloween movies. I’ve never been a fan of slasher films really, with only a few exceptions. Actually, I only saw Halloween 1 & 2 and that’s it. I… like them.
