Episode 5: “Being Harley Quinn”

Harley is criminal lair shopping with a realtor and Poison Ivy when Harley has a wig-out moment and freezes.

Harley is “broke” when asked the question by Poison Ivy wondering: “Who you are?”

Poison Ivy goes to Dr. Psycho to see if he can go inside Harley’s mind and fix the broken Harley. Soon, this is Harley Quinn meets a bunch of evil doppelganger Harleys, because what’s inside Harley’s mind is warped, wrecked and wild.

A bunch of evil Harley clones inside her devilishly wicked mind

Being I’m a mega horror fan, this psychological scary (in a comedic sense) Harley episode is a bullseye. Dr. Psycho, Clayface, King Shark, about the only thing missing is the funny quips from Frank the talking plant. They do spend a little time in Poison Ivy’s house, but no zingers from Frank. Bummer!

This is probably my third favorite episode so far of the five release, real close second to episode #2 with Kite Man. All have been entertaining. This is my favorite adult animated show right now, even more than the current season of The Simpsons. Don’t get too excited, I’m not saying it’s an overall better show, just saying first season of Harley Quinn is fresher, more raw and exciting at the moment. A couple bad episodes and the tides can shift.

I think it’s the blood, the gore, the extreme language, it’s that excess that makes it different. They aren’t just throwing out profanity for fun, it feels natural to how these characters talk. That’s adds something to the overall stew that makes it tastier.

Looking forward to next Friday’s episode #6 (1/3/2020) entitled, “You’re a Damn Good Cop, Jim Gordon.” Sounds like a great way to kick off the new year on DC Universe.

Overall episode rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
